This post involves a PayPal e-mail scam involving receiving an invoice for payment. (Images below)
You'll notice at the top, that the email does say in has been verified by Yahoo's e-mail service. It provides an invoice number and the sender has a common name.
The format and PayPal logo images in the e-mail are designed very well.
It gives you payment options.
It gives you a link to make those payment options.
However some red flags that you'll find and to be aware of in the e-mail are:
1. Yahoo has shown a verified sender, however, it does caution us to mark it as spam.
2. The e-mail recipients domain seems to come across as a store transaction (PixelStore398)?? What is this?
3. Is this your personal e-mail address? Do you have a store?
4. In the footer of the e-mail it lets you know that this may be suspicious activity.
5. It gives you an option with phone number, if not you will be charged.
2. You'll notice the e-mail address in the yellow circled area that it's addressing a specific email address and not a specific person.
Some takeaways from this are:- Is this your Yahoo email address?
- Shouldn't it show your Yahoo user name instead of an email address? Or both?
- Do you know an Amy Johnson?
- Did you recently make a transaction via PayPal?
